I do not remember where i read that story, the story was written in PoV of a young daughter. The family (dad, mom and daughter) lives in a ultra "religious" close-knit small town. kind of like those where cultists live, for example like Utah. the town is of course controlled by the council of religious elders, who are always making sure that people do not leave their community as much as possible, to prevent thinning the herd so to speak. they do this by implementing a few rules disguised as town traditions onto the populace. one of those rules is that; to prevent men in the town from having extra marital affairs, the council agreed to have a community prostitute at all times. so they don't stray too far. the town's women also turn a blind eye on that as an unspoken agreement. the prostitute is chose from among the town's widows, she would also be well taken care of and could even become wealthy to a certain degree, with gifts from her clients and all that.
back to the family, the mother is regarded as the most beautiful woman in that town. if i remember correctly, she was not native to the town, she got married to the preacher who was from that town while he was on a mission and came with him when he returned to the town. then one day the preacher (father) passed away. the mother was planning to leave the town. but the young daughter is a greedy little bitch who is interested in a "lavish" lifestyle of a town's prostitute. so when she overheard from her friends that the council was making a move on her beautiful mother, she decided not to warn her mother. usually the council would wait until after the mourning period and choose the new prostitute only after the old one is gone. but in her mother's case, the elders decided that the mother is way too beautiful to miss this opportunity, and also because they knew that she was trying to leave town. i think the daughter told them or something.
so one day, two men came to the family home under the pretense of fixing electrical problem and forced the mom. from then on, it was open season on her, she was considered as a "fallen" woman. then pretty much every man in town, even those the mother knew well and considered as friendly, would force themselves on her in many delicious scenarios until she was totally broken and accepted her fate as the town's prostitute.
it was a long and well written story.
