I think I have a few ideas if someone is interested and has the aptitude to write stories with realistic approach.
below are some of my ideas/suggestions
1. Mom is a Queen of a royal family which is now only nominal and holds no real powers but since the monarchy has been there fro centuries both government and people recognize the family as the Royal. The family is rich but now certain sections are taking up the cause of abolition of monarchy. The queen is determined to save the monarchy and so leaves no stones unturned. She would not mind colluding with the enemies of her son if she has to.( I got to idea from the TV show The Royals).

2. Mom is a successful businesswoman/lawyer/social worker etc and helps the down trodden. After The father dies the servant of the house starts hitting on mom  and ultimately succeeds. He enjoys the mom( Who is his mistress) and the property of his deceased master.. Mom is now on crossroads . She knows her son and servant don't get along well.
